This morning we enjoyed an informative presentation about the Friends of Lady Bird (FOLB) and the ongoing projects they are working.  One of the most interesting in terms of service to others is their work with young people from elementary to high school ages.  These programs rely on the support of volunteers to work with and teach our kids the fundamentals of the game of golf and they have been very successful.  Anyone who is interested in either volunteering or providing other support may contact Buzz Roye at BuzzRoye@yahoo.com.

Thank you Alice for the following suggestions for speakers to our Club.  You can contact each of these speakers directly - just tell them "Alice gave me your name".
For El Salvador, Jordan Eberlein would like to present Project Red Foundation.  Jordan can be reached by email e.jordan@project-red.org. Dr. Becky's friend, Annie Stadig, will be available to speak to us
about her travels to Vietnam.  Annie's subject is "Stickswap".   Kenneth O'Neal of Kerrville is another potential speaker for our club. He is a Zig Ziglar legacy certified coach and trainer.  His telephone number is 830-285-7010. As of 7/6/16 - he's out of the country but try him in a month or so. We have PDG Allen Anderson from San Angelo that would like to speak to our Club regarding the Anatomy of America's mental health.  Mr. Anderson's telephone number is 325-949-4865.  The OTTER program has a new coordinator.  Jamie Gonzales is now handling OTTER.  Jamie's contact info is JamieG@FISD.org or 997-1750. Again - you can contact these potential speakers directly then let Susan know if you have them booked for your speaker date.  Thanks.

  • True Facts from College Geography Students: Tides are caused by the emotion of the earth around the sun.  The inhabitants of ancient Egypt were called Mummies. The Red River isn’t.
  • Border Dispute: for generations, a woman's family lived on a Manitoba farm bordering North Dakota, an area in dispute with the U.S. One day her grown kids told her that the dispute had been settled, the international boundary ran right through their farm, and the family could choose whether to be Canadians or Americans.  After some thought, the woman declared that they should become Americans. She said she couldn't stand another Canadian winter!
  • Will Rogers: Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
  • News Flash:  a woman was sitting in Starbucks, reading news on her iPad.   One headline read, "12 Brazilian Soldiers Killed."  The woman shook her head at the sad news, turned to the stranger sitting next to her, and asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"
  • Diner:  Waitress: Hawaii, Mister? You must be Hungary.
    • Gent: Yes, Siam. And I can't Romania long, either. Venice lunch ready?
    • Waitress: I'll Russia table. What are you Ghana Havre?
